Dear friends and supporters,

Perhaps you watched the work-in-progress YouTube presentation of Complicit: Observations from the 57th Floor, written and performed by yours truly and directed by Mike Cutler.  If not, let me give you a taste:

If one is lucky, one might wake up one day to look over the opus of one's life with pride. Or not.  Themis is an actor with lofty ideals who has worked in offices for decades trying to make ends meet while pursuing her acting career. She wakes up to the realization that what she considered to be the incidental portion of her life is in fact her real life -- and that as she has climbed her own minor version of the corporate ladder, she has been witness to, and a part of, major societal shifts and disturbing corporate events, all while trying to keep her blinders in position. Themis is the sole character in Complicit, but she takes us on a journey from her first experiences as a temp in the unionized credit department of a major NY department store, through the seedy warehouses of the garment district, the skyscrapers of Park Avenue, the Midwest and the Cali coast, until she finally lands in the halls of the largest corporate law firms in the world. Through her eyes, we meet polyester-clad union reps, patrician harassers, screaming litigators, entitled twenty-something golden boys billing $600/hour. We get schooled in the workings of time recording, confidentiality agreements, the Chickenshit Club, and a look at how Jeffrey Epstein hid for as long as he did. Themis takes us on a whirlwind of history and personal experience that leads to self-examination when the societal becomes the personal.

The Austin Film Festival called the script "a spectacular tour de force of style and substance." I am thrilled to report that director, Millicent Cho, will be making a full length feature film of Complicit. I am equally thrilled to share that our Director of Photography is Sheldon Chau and that Linda Dowdell will be composing our music. Yes, there is music!! We will be shooting the film in July of this year and we intend that part of our shoot will be a live performance of the one-person show during the last week of July. We will keep you posted!

Several of you have expressed interest in supporting our project. Our shoot is funded at this point, but we are raising funds for post-production. Every little bit helps - from $10 to ten million! If you have interest in supporting our work, please feel free to make contributions using Zelle or Venmo. If using Venmo I will transfer funds to the production company, Katastrograd--Scouts honor!

Zelle Account: katastrograd@gmail.com

Venmo: @evangelia-kingsley

If these options do not work for you, please let us know and we can figure something else out. And please make sure to let us know how you would like to be acknowledged and how we might get in touch.

Thank you for your support in any form!

Sincerely,

Evangelia
